Canned Food Drive Coordinator

The primary purpose of this position is to oversee canned food drives in order to ensure prompt drop off of needed supplies are made and all donations are picked up as scheduled.  Job responsibilities will include: Assist in developing and monitoring all canned food drives; Order supplies needed for canned food drives; Inform donors of what perishable & non-perishable items are acceptable & recommend items for collection; Coordinate date, location, pick-up time and supplies needed for food drive.

Inform participants of Virtual Food drive option. The individual will also ensure prompt pick-up of all food drives and act as the contact person with various organizations and working as a liaison with them as issues may arise.

Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one year or more related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to write and communicate effectively. and be a self-starter who needs little supervision. Individual will be subjected to frequent standing; walking; and stooping, kneeling, and crouching. Must regularly lift and/or move up to ten pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to fifty pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 50lbs and operate a forklift. Basic knowledge of computers and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications is helpful. Must be able to work with diverse groups of people.

Food Stamps Outreach Coordinator (Part-time temporary)

The Primary purpose of this position will be to work with State and local food stamp agencies, advocates, employers, community and faith-based organizations, and others to reach out to eligible low-income people who are not currently participating in the Food Stamp Program or need to recertify for Food Stamps and share information about the economic and nutrition benefits of food stamps to help them make an information participation decision.

Job responsibilities will include: Identify and develop avenues for distribution of outreach materials on the Food Stamp program designed to educate low income people about the benefits and encourage enrollment in the Food Stamp Program; Communicate eligibility requirements to potentially eligible households; Understand and utilize all processes related to the Food Stamp Outreach Program; Strive to increase participation in the Food Stamp Program by identifying collaborative opportunities and fostering partnerships between network members and local community organizations, lawmakers, businesses, USDA, and other stakeholder groups actively engaged and/or interested in food stamp outreach; Ensure that monthly enrollment goals are met based on grant requirements; Administer client referral queues through on-line software; Administer department’s Food Stamp Outreach Hotline;
Make follow-up calls to clients to document outcomes of application assistance; Deliver Food Stamp applications to designated Health and Human Services Commission.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Social Work, governmental affairs, political science or sociology. Two to three years experience in program coordination or outreach, volunteer and education experience will be considered.. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Proficient in MS Office applications. Committed to organizational mission of ending hunger. Bilingual candidates strongly preferred. Due to funding restrictions, this position will end in August. This position is part time, only allowing for 10 hrs per week.
