NORTH TEXAS FOOD BANK CALLS FOR COMMUNITY SUPPORT
THIS HOLIDAY SEASON
Organization Facing Increased Demand from Agencies Feeding Working Poor & Homeless
WHAT: Coverage opportunities to report on North Texas Food Bank’s (NTFB) holiday fundraising campaign; the organization’s work to supply local shelters, soup kitchens, food pantries, and after-school programs; and upcoming events and ways supporters can give back this holiday season.
WHY: Demand from local member agencies up 17% compared to this time last year. Food and freight costs are already $400,000 higher than this time last year. If distribution continues at this pace, the Food Bank’s purchasing budget will be expended by March 2008. Even a small donation helps – NTFB agencies can feed 5 people with every $1 donated.
